Autumn Camping

You may think that camping is only good for Summer, but you couldn’t be more wrong!

Autumn camping in the UK is just as fun. This time of year is full of beautiful colours, fresh walks around Sussex, and lots of warm drinks!

It also allows you to be more active in the Autumn. So if your job keeps you from experiencing the outdoors, and ties you down to your chair, this is even more reason to go camping, get outside and explore the wilderness!

Still not convinced? Spectacular sunsets, clear skies for star gazing, and who doesn’t love a pub pit stop for a hearty meal!

If you’re hesitant because of the weather (the UK isn’t known for its dry weather!), camping gear has advanced considerably. Buying weatherproof and waterproof clothing, tents, warm sleeping bags and other bits and bobs is a lot easier! So don’t let the UK weather put you off.

We have 5 great campsites, check them out and book your autumn camping getaway today.

Autumnal Walks

Sumners Ponds is based in Barns Green, West Sussex, and is surrounded by lots of beautiful woodlands, fields, and stunning views.

In the autumn and winter, walking might not be on the top of your list, but we’re here to tell you why it’s important and why it can be just as fun as in the summer.

Walking is very important to keep up a healthy lifestyle, as told by the NHS. So why not go for a walk and explore different areas of your town in Sussex? This is a perfect way to find new spots you may not have known about before!

At Sumners Ponds, whether you want to go for a dog walk, walk with friends or family, or even cycle, there is a path and route going to and from here for all ages and abilities.

If you’re an avid walker or cyclist, there is a great route that leaves from Sumners Ponds and takes you straight onto The Downs Link at Christ’s Hospital (roughly halfway along The Downs Link). From here you can head North to Guildford or South to Shoreham-by-sea.

Bring along a flask with tea, coffee, or hot chocolate, wrap up warm and get those walking boots on. We would also love to see your autumnal walks, so go ahead and tag us on Instagram @sumnersponds.

Disabled Friendly

Sumners Ponds is a accessible fishery for those with a disability. The best lakes to fish are either Farm Pond or Betty’s Lake.

Farm Pond has a purpose built accessible platform with a ramp from the ajoining car park. This spaceous decked area has three large swims which are all disabled priority. The car park for this lake is directly next to the closest fishing swims so there is not far to travel with your equipment.

Betty’s Lake has two disabled parking areas which are very close to the nearest wood-chipped swims.
