B&B Shepherd’s Huts
These quirky and beautifully handcrafted huts are ideal for a quick stop over or a romantic weekend away in the beautiful West Sussex countryside. Breakfast at our wonderful Cafe by the Lake is included with each booking (Excluding 25th and 26th December). All four of the Shepherd’s Huts are located in the Sumners Park with ‘Old George’ and ‘Gabriel’ boasting views from the bank of the Sumners Lake. All of our Shepherd’s Huts are named after characters in Thomas Hardy novels – a family favourite.
You can see the positions of our Shepherd’s Huts on our Camping Map. ‘Old George’ (OG) and ‘Gabriel’ (G) are positioned lakeside on the Sumners Lake. ‘Boldwood’ (B) and ‘Bathsheba Everdene’ (BE) are positioned slightly back from the edge of the water. Please note that the lakeside Shepherd’s Huts are not suitable to fish from. All Shepherd’s Huts are unfortunately not disabled accessible. The Shepherd Huts are suitable for small, well-behaved dogs at a fee of £25 per stay . Free WiFi is available in all of the Shepherd’s Huts.
Old George
‘OG’ Lakeside – Sleeps two people
Old George is rusty red in colour and is located on the bank of the Sumners Lake with and has a small veranda over the water with seating. The hut is furnished with a comfy memory foam double bed with clean white linen and cosy throws. There is a rustic table and stools next to a wood burning stove so you will stay cosy and warm even on the chilliest evenings.
There is a small fridge for essentials like milk and a kettle along with complimentary tea, coffee and hot chocolate. There aren’t any toilet and shower facilities at Old George but the luxury state of the art amenity block is just a minute walk away. Old George is sited next door to the Cafe by the Lake so minimal effort is required for a lazy breakfast. Please note that the lakeside Shepherd’s Huts are not suitable to fish from.
Gabriel
‘G’ Lakeside – Sleeps two people
Gabriel is sky blue in colour and is located on the bank of the Sumners Lake, the opposite side of the Cafe by the Lake from Old George. There is a small decking which runs the length of the hut and a small grass area with picnic table. The hut is furnished with a comfy memory foam double bed with clean white linen and cosy throws. There is a rustic table and chairs next to the wood burning stove that will keep you toasty warm all evening. Gabriel has double barn doors which fully open so you have uninterrupted views across the stunning lake.
There is a small fridge for essentials like milk and a kettle along with complimentary tea, coffee and hot chocolate. There aren’t any toilet and shower facilities at Gabriel but the luxury state of the art amenity block is less than a minute walk away. Gabriel is positioned closest out of all the Shepherd’s Huts to the toilet and shower facilities. Please note that the lakeside Shepherd’s Huts are not suitable to fish from.
Bathsheba
‘BE’ – Sleeps two people
Bathsheba is light teal in colour and is positioned slightly back from the Sumners Lake and Farm Pond in a small graveled courtyard area. The hut has a small veranda with sun loungers and a picnic table. The hut is furnished with a comfy memory foam double bed with clean white linen and cosy throws. There is a rustic table and chairs along with a wood burning stove that will keep the hut pleasantly warm even through the night.
There is a small fridge for essentials like milk and a kettle along with complimentary tea, coffee and hot chocolate. There aren’t any toilet and shower facilities at Bathsheba but the luxury state of the art amenity block is just a minute walk away. Bathsheba is located in a small courtyard area that is shared by Boldwood. Both Bathsheba and Boldwood are ideal for two couples who want to be next to one another.
Boldwood
‘B’ – Sleeps two people
Boldwood is dark green in colour and is sited away from the Sumners Lake and Farm Pond in a small graveled courtyard area next door to Bathsheba and The Cafe by the Lake. The hut has a veranda that stretches the length of the hut with sun loungers and a picnic table. The hut is furnished with a comfy memory foam double bed with clean white linen and cosy throws. There is a rustic table and chairs along with a wood burning stove that will keep toasty warm through the evening and into the night.
There is a small fridge for essentials like milk and a kettle along with complimentary tea, coffee and hot chocolate. There aren’t any toilet and shower facilities at Boldwood but the luxury state of the art amenity block is just a minute walk away. Boldwood is located in a small courtyard area that is shared by Bathsheba. Both Bathsheba and Boldwood are ideal for two couples who want to be next to one another.
How to book
Arrival days must be any day of the week and a minimum stay of two nights applies (1 Night during Winter Months) with the option for a third night at a weekend (arriving on a Friday). If you wish to make a booking you can check availability and book online or call us on 01403 732539.

A 50% deposit is due when booking. Outstanding balance is then due 30 days before arrival date. If you booked online you can log in and pay or call us on 01403 732539. Cancellations require one months notice to be able to provide credit. If less than one months notice is given then all funds paid will be lost. We require a security deposit of £100 paid by card for all Shepherd’s Hut bookings. £150 for guests staying with dogs, a £50 cleaning charge will occur if evidence of dogs on bedding or other furniture.
