Match Fishing

There are currently two waters at Sumners Ponds that can be used for fishing matches.

The Match Lake, set on its own away from the campsite, this 3.5 acre lake provides prolific fishing with Mirror and Common Carp, Chub, Barbel, Crucians, Tench, Bream and Roach. This lake has a very good reputation and is very popular among match fishermen and day ticket anglers.

Our two acre Ribbon Lake which is, as its name implies, a meandering ribbon of water with islands to fish from.  It is well stocked with fish such as Barbel up to 8lb, Chub to 6lb, Tench, Perch, Bream, Roach and Crucians. This lake is a favourite with some of our regulars as it is unique in design and has a large walk-on island with platforms to fish from.

To have a match at Sumners Ponds you need to have at least 6 people to be able to book. If your club would be interested in having a match at Sumners Ponds please email us on fishing@sumnersponds.co.uk or call us on 01403 732539.

Prices and Options:

Partial use of lake: £9.00 per angler – £30 deposit required when booking.

Exclusive use of whole lake: £200.00 – £60 deposit required when booking.

Night Fishing

If you are visiting Sumners Ponds and want to night fish but it wouldn’t be worth becoming a member, there is one other way of being able too. The only visitors who are permitted to night fish without becoming a member are those who have booked either a Lakeside Pitch, Lakeside Camping Pod or Lakeside Log Cabin. These swims are only located on Sumners Lake and Farm Pond. Once booked you don’t need to sort the fishing out until you are here but to night fish you will need to purchase a 24 hour ticket. You can fish any of the lakes during the day but after dusk can only fish at the swim/pitch that you have booked.

Prices:

First 24 Hour Session: £25.00

Subsequent 24 Hour Session: £15.00 (must be in succession of first 24 hour session)

If you have any questions regarding the fishery, want to contact one of the fishing bailiffs or just want to send in pictures of your catches email fishing@sumnersponds.co.uk.

Disabled Friendly

Sumners Ponds is a accessible fishery for those with a disability. The best lakes to fish are either Farm Pond, Ribbon Lake and Match Lake.

Farm Pond has a purpose built accessible platform with a ramp from the ajoining car park. This spaceous decked area has three large swims perfect for the disabled angler. The car park for this lake is directly next to the closest fishing swims so there is not far to travel with your equipment.

With both Ribbon Lake and Match Lake, so long as you have a blue disabled badge you can park directly behind your swim of choice.

Please be aware, no swims are reserved or prioritised for disabled anglers.
