5 Reasons Why Kids Love Camping

Many of us will have fond memories of camping with our parents when we were younger.

The thrill of seeing the car packed with all sorts of equipment, hopping in, and driving off into the middle of nowhere. Away from home and the real world and into the great outdoors, is one we can all relate to.

Now that we’re older, it’s sometimes easy to forget how exciting the experience can be for our kids. And so today, we’ve decided to share our top 5 reasons why your young ones will love going camping!

Anything is Possible:

One of the things kids love the most about camping is that they’re in an entirely new and unknown environment.

Leaving behind the well-known walls of the school and their bedroom, getting out into nature at a campsite encourages them to explore the world around them!

Camping trips also encourage exploring the local area, which means there’s always something new to do!

Increased Confidence:

A night’s sleep under the stars can be a little scary at first for some kids. However, it’s an excellent way to build their confidence independently.

The fear of noises in the dark quickly disappears when they learn it’s a friendly owl hooting in the distance or a curious deer in the woods nearby.

Sleeping in a family tent is one of our top tips for camping with kids for the first time. But as they become more comfortable with it, wrapping up warm and dry in their own sleeping bag in their own tent can help to really boost their confidence and make them feel like adults!

Making new Friends:

Campsites are a great place for your kids to make new friends, and gain new social skills in a safe environment. With so many other children around, it’s a wonderful way for them to meet and play with new people.

Our Bluebell park even has a children’s play area, within easy viewing distance of the pitches. This ensures you can keep an eye on your little ones whilst allowing them to feel independent at the same time.

Expressing Creativity:

Setting up a tent is the classic camping experience!

Getting your kids involved with new and unfamiliar things around the campsite is a great way to let them express their creativity.

They can explore building their own tent-forts and even get involved with a bit of campsite cooking!

Appreciate the Natural World:

It can be hard to switch off in our modern society, and nowadays, our kids are exposed to screens and devices much faster than before.

Getting out into nature on a family camping trip is a beautiful way to make lifelong memories and teach your young ones about the beauty of the world around us.

They might not appreciate the benefits of a hike through the woods right now, but when they’re grown up, they’ll thank you for it, we bet!
