Statement: Sumners Ponds Model Show 2018
It is with great regret that we have taken the decision to announce that the Sumners Ponds Model Show 2018, originally scheduled for the 9th and 10th June, will not go ahead as previously planned.
The Sumners Ponds Model Show has come a long way since our first show in 2013 and has relied heavily on a lot of time and hard work and effort from our staff as well as many volunteers. We have unfortunately found ourselves this year without an Event Coordinator to plan the show and now with less than three months to go, we feel we have run out of time to deliver anything other than an inferior product to last year’s event.
Let us take this opportunity to thank the many exhibitors, traders and visitors for their continued support over the 5 years of the Sumners Ponds Model Show; it really has come from nothing to what is now one of the largest shows in the South East in terms of variety. We’d also like to take this moment to thank all members of the various organisations that contribute to the success of the event and to say a specific thank you to Alan of the Southwater Dabblers, Pete of Horsham & District RC Model Club, Gavin and Kevin from Adur Model Car Club and the Sussex RC Car Club, Ian and Mike from West Sussex G-Scale and Collin from The Kite Weekenders for all their support and efforts over the years to help expand the show.
As it stands, we hope to revive the show, bigger and better as early as next year. Watch this space!
Thank you all,
The Model Show returns on the 10th and 11th June 2017 for its fifth year of active displays on the lake, on the ground and in the air! With display areas exhibiting boats, planes, helicopters, quads, drones, trains, cars, kites and much more with have-a-go areas, model traders, bring and buy, food and drink plus other activities too! A great day out in beautiful surroundings.
There were five display fields for the 2016 show. The main show area around the Ribbon Lake will be primarily boats, trains and tanks. Many active displays took place in this area. There was also refreshments available in this field including hog roast, BBQ, hot and cold drinks and ice creams. The second field was RC cars where there were displays and races taking place throughout the day. The third field was quads and drones which were racing up and down the field and around the stream that runs through that area. At the top of the hill the fourth field, above Betty's Lake, was displaying scale model helicopters and planes and the fifth field was displaying all manner of kites including some impressive novelties.
